Late at night, the house became quiet as the soft rain tapped gently against the roof. Everyone had already gone to sleep, but little monkey Lyly was still sitting silently in front of her mother’s room.
Earlier that evening, Lyly had accidentally broken her mother’s favorite flower pot while playing near the window. The loud crash startled everyone. Although it was only an accident, Lyly became frightened when she saw her mother’s disappointed face.
Her mother didn’t yell loudly, but she softly told Lyly, “You should be more careful next time.”
Those simple words made the little monkey feel deeply guilty.
Usually, Lyly would run into her mother’s arms before bedtime, asking for hugs and kisses. But that night, she quietly grabbed her tiny blanket and sat outside the bedroom door instead.
The hours slowly passed.
Lyly leaned against the wall beside the door, trying to stay awake because she was afraid her mother might still be upset with her. But eventually, the little monkey became too sleepy. She curled up on the cold floor and fell asleep there, hugging her blanket tightly.
In the middle of the night, Lyly’s mother opened the door quietly to get some water.
The moment she looked down, her heart suddenly broke.
There was little Lyly sleeping soundly right in front of the room. Her tiny body looked cold, and her cheeks were still wet with dried tears.
The mother monkey immediately understood everything.
Lyly had been too afraid to enter the room because she thought her mother no longer loved her.
Tears filled the mother’s eyes as she gently carried Lyly into her arms. “Oh, my silly little girl,” she whispered sadly. “Mom could never stop loving you.”
Even while asleep, Lyly slowly held onto her mother’s shirt as if she had been waiting for that warmth all night.
Her mother carefully placed her on the bed, covered her with a warm blanket, and kissed her forehead lovingly.
That night, the mother monkey stayed awake beside Lyly, realizing how sensitive and pure her little daughter’s heart truly was.
