Monkey Lyly was always known for her quick thinking and playful spirit, but one day she surprised everyone—especially her mother—with just how clever she could be.
It all started when Lyly was playing with her favorite little box. She used it to store her tiny treasures—colorful stones, leaves, and little things she found around the yard. But as she happily opened and closed it, something went wrong.
CRACK!
The lid snapped off and fell to the ground.
Lyly froze. “Oh no…” she whispered, staring at her broken box. It was her favorite! For a moment, she felt sad and didn’t know what to do. Her mother, hearing the noise, came over and looked at the broken box.
“Well, that’s unfortunate,” her mother said gently. “We might have to throw it away.”
But Lyly wasn’t ready to give up that easily.
She sat quietly for a moment, thinking hard. Her eyes moved around the room, searching for something—anything—that could help. Suddenly, her face lit up.
“I’ve got an idea!” she said.
She quickly ran off and came back with a piece of string, a small stick, and a bit of tape she had found. Her mother watched curiously, not quite sure what Lyly was planning.
Carefully, Lyly lined up the lid with the box. Then she used the tape to hold it in place. After that, she tied the string around the box, attaching the small stick as a little handle to open and close it.
“Done!” Lyly announced proudly.
Her mother blinked in surprise. “Let me see,” she said.
Lyly demonstrated her invention. She lifted the stick, and the lid opened perfectly. When she let it go, it closed again!
For a second, her mother was speechless… then she burst out laughing.
“That’s amazing, Lyly!” she said between laughs. “I was ready to throw it away, but you fixed it in such a clever way!”
Lyly giggled happily. “I didn’t want to lose my treasure box.”
From that day on, the box became even more special—not because it was perfect, but because Lyly had fixed it with her own quick thinking. And every time her mother saw it, she couldn’t help but smile and laugh at Lyly’s adorable cleverness.
