monkey Xuka woke up earlier than everyone else that morning. The warm sunlight peeked through the bamboo window, and the delicious smell of fried eggs floated from the kitchen. As soon as Xuka smelled it, his tummy growled loudly. He jumped out of bed, rubbed his sleepy eyes, and rushed outside with excitement.
“Auntie is making fried eggs!” Xuka shouted happily.
Every weekend, Xuka’s aunt visited the family and cooked breakfast for everyone. Her fried eggs were famous in the village because they were golden, fluffy, and full of flavor. Xuka loved them more than anything else. Today, he simply couldn’t wait.
He ran into the kitchen and saw his aunt carefully frying eggs in a big pan. The sizzling sound made him even more hungry. Xuka stood on a little wooden stool so he could peek over the table.
“Auntie, are the eggs ready yet?” he asked for the first time.
“Not yet, little one,” she laughed gently. “Good food takes time.”
Xuka nodded, but only for a moment. He kept walking in circles around the kitchen, sniffing the air and staring at the pan. A few minutes later, he asked again.
“How about now?”
His aunt smiled. “Still cooking!”
To distract himself, Xuka tried helping by carrying spoons and napkins to the table. But he was too excited to focus properly. He accidentally dropped a spoon on the floor and nearly slipped while running back to the kitchen. Everyone burst into laughter.
Finally, the fried eggs were ready. His aunt placed the beautiful eggs on a plate beside warm rice and fresh vegetables. Xuka’s eyes grew wide with happiness. He quickly climbed onto his chair, folded his tiny hands politely, and said, “Thank you, Auntie!”
He took one big bite and his face lit up instantly.
“So yummy!” he cheered.
The whole family smiled as they watched Xuka enjoy every bite. Even though he had been impatient all morning, his excitement made breakfast feel warm and joyful. From that day on, whenever Auntie visited, everyone remembered the funny morning when Monkey Xuka simply could not wait for her delicious fried eggs breakfast.
