Early one sunny morning, CUTIS was helping his father feed the animals on their small farm. Everything seemed normal until Dad suddenly called out in surprise.
“CUTIS! Come quickly!” Dad shouted.
CUTIS ran over and saw something strange near the fence. The rope that usually tied their friendly cow, Daisy, had snapped in half.
“The rope is broken!” CUTIS exclaimed.
Even worse, Daisy was nowhere to be seen.
Dad looked worried. “She must have wandered off during the night.”
CUTIS examined the rope carefully like a real detective. “Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll find her!”
The little monkey grabbed his hat and began his investigation.
First, he noticed fresh hoof prints leading away from the barn. CUTIS followed the tracks across the grassy field until they reached a muddy path near the river.
“Hmm… Daisy definitely came this way,” he said thoughtfully.
Along the path, CUTIS found a few clues: a patch of flattened grass, a bite mark on some tall plants, and even a tuft of brown fur caught on a bush.
“The mystery is getting interesting!” CUTIS said excitedly.
Soon he met several animal friends.
“Have you seen Daisy?” he asked the chickens.
They shook their heads.
“What about you?” he asked the ducks by the pond.
The ducks pointed their beaks toward the hills.
CUTIS hurried in that direction and finally heard a familiar sound.
“Moooooo!”
There, under a large shady tree, stood Daisy happily chewing grass.
“You found her!” Dad cheered as he arrived moments later.
CUTIS smiled proudly. “The clues led me right to her.”
Dad gently patted Daisy and replaced the old rope with a stronger new one.
“Today you were a great detective,” Dad said.
CUTIS grinned from ear to ear.
“The mystery of the broken rope is solved!”
And from that day on, everyone on the farm called him Detective CUTIS, the best cow finder around!
