After spending the whole morning in the corn field with her mother, little monkey Lyly was feeling hotter than ever. The bright sun stayed high in the sky, and the warm air wrapped around the field like a blanket. Lyly had tried her best to help her mother pick sweet yellow corn, carrying small baskets and carefully pulling the corn from the tall green stalks. At first, she was excited and full of energy, but after hours under the sunlight, her tiny face became red and sweaty.
“Oh, it’s really hot!” Lyly cried as she wiped her forehead with her tiny hands. Her fluffy fur was damp from sweat, and she could barely keep her eyes open because of the heat. She slowly sat down under a tree beside the field, breathing heavily while fanning herself with a corn leaf.
Her mother looked at Lyly and laughed softly. “You worked very hard today, my little helper,” she said kindly. “But when the weather is this hot, you must rest and drink enough water.”
Lyly nodded quickly. She accepted a bottle of cool water from her mother and drank it happily. The cold water made her feel much better right away. Soon, her mother brought a juicy watermelon they had packed for lunch. Lyly’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she took a big bite. The sweet and refreshing fruit cooled her body instantly.
After resting for a while under the shade, Lyly started smiling again. A gentle breeze finally moved through the corn field, making the leaves rustle softly. Lyly stretched her arms and looked around happily.
Even though the weather was extremely hot, Lyly felt proud because she had helped her mother work in the field. She learned that hard work can sometimes be tiring, especially on sunny days, but resting properly and staying hydrated are very important.
Before going home, Lyly hugged her mother tightly and said, “Next time I’ll still help you pick corn… but maybe we should bring more watermelon!” Her mother laughed warmly, and together they walked home carrying baskets full of fresh corn under the golden afternoon sky.
