Baby monkey Zika was known for being energetic, curious, and always looking for adventure. His uncle loved him very much, but he also knew that Zika could get into trouble whenever he was left alone for too long.
One morning, Uncle had to go to work for a few hours. Before leaving, he gently reminded Zika, “Be a good monkey. Stay inside, play with your toys, and don’t make a mess.”
Zika nodded confidently. “I promise, Uncle!”
At first, everything went well. Zika played with his toy car, watched birds through the window, and even enjoyed a small snack. But after a while, he became bored.
“What should I do now?” he wondered.
As he looked around the house, he noticed a small storage room that Uncle usually kept closed. His curiosity immediately took over.
“I’ll just take a quick peek,” Zika said to himself.
The moment he opened the door, he discovered shelves filled with interesting items—paint cans, gardening tools, boxes, and cleaning supplies. To Zika, it looked like a treasure room.
He started exploring. First, he moved a few boxes. Then he found a small can of paint. Curious about what was inside, he accidentally knocked it over.
Splash!
Blue paint spilled across the floor.
“Oh no!” Zika gasped.
Trying to clean it up, he grabbed a cloth. Unfortunately, he stepped in the paint and left little blue footprints all over the house. The more he tried to fix the mess, the worse it became.
By the time Uncle returned home, blue footprints could be seen from the storage room all the way to the living room.
Uncle stopped and stared in surprise.
“Zika… what happened here?” he asked.
Zika lowered his head and admitted everything. He expected Uncle to be very angry.
Instead, Uncle sighed and said, “Mistakes happen, but you must listen when I tell you not to enter certain places.”
Feeling sorry, Zika helped clean every blue footprint and wipe up the spilled paint.
That day, he learned an important lesson: curiosity can be fun, but responsibility and listening to trusted adults are just as important.
