It was a bright and peaceful morning when little monkey Zika decided to show everyone how good he was at climbing. After eating breakfast, Zika ran excitedly toward the tall mango tree behind the house. He looked up confidently and smiled proudly.
“Today I will climb higher than ever before!” Zika shouted happily.
His friends gathered nearby to watch. Even little Lyly and puppy Kun sat under the tree, waiting to cheer for him. Zika quickly grabbed the first branch and climbed upward with lots of energy. At first, everything looked easy. He jumped from branch to branch while swinging his tail proudly.
“Wow! Zika is amazing!” Lyly clapped excitedly.
Hearing everyone cheer made Zika even more confident. He wanted to impress them even more, so he tried climbing to the highest branch of the tree. But the branch was thinner and weaker than he expected.
“Oh no… maybe this is too high,” Zika whispered nervously.
Before he could climb back down, his foot suddenly slipped. The branch shook hard, and Zika lost his balance completely.
“OH NO!!!” everyone screamed together.
Zika tumbled down through the leaves with a loud rustling sound. Luckily, he landed safely on a soft pile of grass and fallen leaves under the tree. Even though he was not seriously hurt, his face looked shocked and embarrassed.
For a moment, nobody spoke. Then puppy Kun slowly walked over and licked Zika’s hand as if asking if he was okay. Lyly rushed over too and helped him sit up.
“Are you hurt?” she asked worriedly.
Zika rubbed his head and sighed deeply. “I’m okay… but that was scary,” he admitted.
His uncle, who had been watching from nearby, gently smiled and said, “Climbing is fun, but you must always be careful. Being brave is good, but being too confident can sometimes lead to mistakes.”
Zika nodded quietly. He realized he had ignored the danger because he wanted everyone to admire him.
After resting for a while, Zika finally laughed at himself. “Next time, I’ll climb more carefully,” he promised.
Everyone smiled with relief, and soon the backyard was filled with laughter again. Although Zika failed while climbing, he learned an important lesson that day about safety, patience, and knowing his limits.
