One quiet afternoon, when Mom was busy in the kitchen, CUTIS and little Buem wandered out into the backyard. The sun was warm, the grass was soft, and everything felt peaceful—until they heard a faint cheep-cheep sound coming from behind a bush.
Curious, CUTIS gently pushed aside the leaves and gasped. “Buem, look!” he whispered. Nestled together were three tiny baby ducks, shivering and alone. Their fluffy yellow feathers trembled as they chirped for help.
Buem’s eyes widened with excitement and concern. “They look hungry… and scared,” he said softly. Without hesitation, the two decided they had to help.
“But Mom might say no…” CUTIS hesitated.
Buem thought for a moment, then smiled mischievously. “Then let’s take care of them secretly!”
And just like that, their secret mission began.
They carefully carried the baby ducks into an old cardboard box and lined it with soft cloth to make a cozy nest. CUTIS sneaked into the kitchen and brought out some rice and water while Mom wasn’t looking. Buem stayed behind, gently talking to the ducks as if they could understand him.
“Don’t worry, little ones. We’ll protect you,” he whispered.
The ducks quickly warmed up to their new friends. They waddled around clumsily, sometimes bumping into Buem’s tiny feet, making him giggle. CUTIS laughed too, feeling proud of their secret kindness.
But keeping a secret wasn’t easy.
Every time Mom called, they rushed to hide the box. One duck even let out a loud cheep! at the wrong moment, nearly giving them away. CUTIS quickly covered it with a blanket, while Buem tried to distract Mom with silly dancing.
Days passed, and the bond between them grew stronger. The ducks followed CUTIS and Buem everywhere, like little shadows.
One evening, Mom finally noticed something unusual. “Why are you two acting so suspicious?” she asked, narrowing her eyes.
CUTIS and Buem looked at each other nervously. Slowly, they revealed their secret.
To their surprise, Mom didn’t get angry. Instead, her face softened. “You wanted to help them… that’s very kind,” she said gently.
From that day on, their “secret” became a family mission. Together, they took care of the baby ducks—turning a hidden act of love into a heartwarming story.
And CUTIS and Buem? They couldn’t stop smiling.
