It was one of those quiet afternoons when everything seemed a little too calm—exactly the kind of moment CUTIS found suspicious. Usually, he was full of energy, running around or getting into playful mischief. But today, curiosity got the better of him in a different way when he spotted Mom’s phone lying unattended on the table.
At first, he only meant to look. The bright screen, colorful icons, and moving images fascinated him. Slowly, he tapped once… then again. Before long, CUTIS was completely absorbed, swiping and pressing buttons with growing confidence. A giggle escaped him as funny sounds played from the phone. To him, it was all just a harmless game.
But things quickly got confusing.
Suddenly, the phone made a loud ringing sound. CUTIS froze. The screen changed, and a voice began speaking. Startled, he dropped the phone onto the couch and stepped back, eyes wide with panic. “Uh-oh…” he whispered, clearly unsure of what he had just done.
Mom walked in just in time to see CUTIS staring at the phone like it had come alive. “CUTIS… did you use my phone?” she asked gently.
He hesitated. His little face showed a mix of guilt and confusion, as if he didn’t fully understand what went wrong—only that something had. Slowly, he nodded.
“I’m sorry…” CUTIS mumbled, looking down at his feet. “I just wanted to see the colors… I didn’t know it would make noise.”
Mom couldn’t help but soften. His apology wasn’t just polite—it was genuine, even if he didn’t fully grasp the situation. She sat beside him and explained calmly, “Phones aren’t toys, sweetheart. You can always ask me first, okay?”
CUTIS looked up, still a bit unsure, but relieved that he wasn’t in trouble. “Okay… I’ll ask next time,” he said quietly.
Mom smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. Moments later, CUTIS was back to his cheerful self, though he kept glancing at the phone from a safe distance.
It was a small mistake, but also a sweet reminder—sometimes curiosity leads to confusion, but honesty and a simple apology can make everything right again.
