One sunny morning, CUTIS woke up with a very serious mission. When he looked into the kitchen, he discovered that the family was running low on rice.
CUTIS immediately put his hands on his hips.
“Oh no! What will we eat?” he wondered.
Then, he suddenly remembered the beautiful corn growing in the family garden. CUTIS’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“I have an idea!” he shouted. “I can harvest the corn and trade it for rice!”
Without wasting another minute, CUTIS dressed like a hardworking little farmer. He grabbed a basket, put on his hat, and marched proudly toward the cornfield. He looked so serious that Dad could not stop laughing.
CUTIS carefully inspected each corn plant. Some ears were too small, while others looked perfectly ripe.
“This one is ready!” CUTIS announced.
He pulled and twisted the corn with all his strength. But one stubborn ear of corn refused to come off!
CUTIS pulled once.
Nothing.
He pulled again.
Still nothing!
Finally, he gave one huge pull—and suddenly fell backward onto the ground with the corn in his hands!
Dad burst out laughing.
CUTIS quickly stood up, brushed himself off, and pretended that nothing had happened. “I planned that!” he said proudly.
Soon, his basket was filled with fresh, golden corn. CUTIS carried it toward the market, although the heavy basket made him walk in a very funny way. He took tiny steps, stopped to rest, and then continued his important journey.
At the market, CUTIS showed the corn to a friendly seller.
“I worked very hard for this!” CUTIS explained.
The seller smiled at the determined little farmer and agreed to trade the fresh corn for a bag of rice. CUTIS was overjoyed!
He carefully carried the rice home and proudly placed it in front of his family.
“Mission complete!” CUTIS announced.
Everyone laughed and congratulated him. Thanks to CUTIS’s hard work, determination, and hilarious corn-harvesting adventure, the family had rice for their meal.
Later, everyone sat down together to enjoy a warm and delicious dinner. CUTIS looked around proudly, knowing that he had helped his family.
Dad smiled and said, “You may be small, but today you worked like a real farmer!”
CUTIS grinned from ear to ear. Even though he had fallen while harvesting corn, he had learned something important: hard work can be fun, especially when it ends with laughter, delicious food, and a happy family! 😆
