It was a calm afternoon in the little house, and baby Buem was getting ready for his bath. The bathroom filled with soft splashes and cheerful giggles as Mom gently lowered him into the warm water. Buem kicked his tiny feet happily, sending little ripples across the tub.
Not far away, CUTIS stood quietly at the door.
Usually full of playful energy and mischief, CUTIS was unusually calm today. He peeked into the bathroom, his big curious eyes fixed on Buem. Instead of running around or making noise, he slowly walked closer and sat beside the tub, watching every movement carefully.
Mom noticed and smiled. “You’re being very quiet today, CUTIS,” she said softly.
CUTIS didn’t respond with his usual playful sounds. Instead, he leaned in slightly, observing Buem as he splashed water with his hands. Every time Buem giggled or wiggled too much, CUTIS’s expression changed—his eyes widened, and he shifted closer, as if ready to help at any moment.
At one point, Buem almost slipped while reaching for a floating toy. Before Mom could react, CUTIS quickly reached out and gently steadied him. It wasn’t a big movement, but it showed how alert and protective he was.
Mom was surprised. “Oh, CUTIS… you’re taking care of him, aren’t you?” she said with a warm smile.
CUTIS sat up a little straighter, as if proud. He stayed by the tub the entire time, quietly watching. No distractions, no mischief—just focus. When Mom poured water gently over Buem’s head, CUTIS leaned closer again, checking to make sure everything was okay.
As the bath ended, Mom wrapped Buem in a soft towel. CUTIS immediately stood up and followed closely, still watching like a tiny guardian. When Buem let out a small cry, CUTIS reached out and gently touched his arm, as if to comfort him.
Buem calmed down almost instantly.
Mom couldn’t help but feel touched. CUTIS, who was often playful and silly, showed a completely different side today—one full of care and quiet love.
