Sorry, Lyly! Monkey Lyly is disappointed because her mom swapped her candy, and here’s why…

Monkey Lyly had been thinking about her candy all day. It was a bright, colorful treat she had carefully saved after receiving it as a reward for helping clean the house. She imagined how sweet it would taste and how happy it would make her feel. With excitement sparkling in her eyes, Lyly rushed home, eager to finally enjoy her special treat.

But when she reached for her candy, something felt… different.

The wrapper looked the same, but when Lyly opened it, her smile quickly faded. Inside was a completely different candy—one she didn’t like at all. Confused and hurt, Lyly’s eyes filled with tears. She ran to her mom, holding the candy in her tiny hands.

“Mom, this isn’t mine!” she said, her voice trembling. “Someone swapped it!”

Her mom looked at her gently, then sighed. “Lyly, I need to tell you something,” she said softly. “I was the one who changed it.”

Lyly froze. She couldn’t believe it. “But… why?” she asked, clearly disappointed.

Her mom knelt down beside her and explained, “That candy you had was left out in the sun for too long. It melted earlier, and I was worried it might upset your stomach if you ate it. So I replaced it with another one to keep you safe.”

Lyly listened quietly, still feeling sad. She had been looking forward to that candy all day. But deep down, she began to understand.

“I didn’t mean to make you upset,” her mom continued. “I just wanted to take care of you.”

Lyly looked at the candy in her hand, then back at her mom. Slowly, she nodded. “I’m still a little sad,” she admitted, “but… thank you for protecting me.”

Her mom smiled warmly and gave her a hug. “How about we pick a new candy together tomorrow?” she suggested.

Lyly’s face brightened just a little. “Okay,” she said.

Even though things didn’t go as she expected, Lyly learned something important that day—sometimes, love means making tough choices, even if they don’t feel good at first.
