That’s Fun! Monkey Lyly Is Praying for Rain to Come and Relieve the Summer Heat and Then…

The summer sun was blazing high in the sky, making everything feel hot and sticky. Little monkey Lyly sat on the porch fanning herself with a large banana leaf. Even the birds seemed too tired to sing, and the flowers in the garden were beginning to droop from the heat.

“Oh, it’s so hot!” Lyly complained as she wiped sweat from her forehead.

She looked up at the bright blue sky and noticed there wasn’t a single cloud in sight. The heat had lasted for many days, and Lyly was getting tired of staying indoors where it was cooler.

Suddenly, she had an idea.

Lyly folded her hands together and looked toward the sky. “Dear clouds,” she said with a smile, “please send some rain to cool everything down!”

After her little prayer, Lyly sat outside waiting patiently. Every few minutes she looked up to see if any clouds were coming. Her mother giggled as she watched Lyly’s hopeful face.

Hours passed, and then something amazing happened.

A few fluffy gray clouds slowly appeared in the distance.

“Mom! Look! The clouds heard me!” Lyly shouted excitedly.

The wind began to blow gently through the trees. Soon, tiny raindrops started falling from the sky. At first there were only a few drops, but then the rain became steadier.

Lyly squealed with delight.

“It’s raining! It’s raining!”

She ran into the yard and stretched out her arms. The cool raindrops splashed on her fur and instantly made her feel refreshed. Soon she was jumping through puddles, spinning in circles, and laughing louder than ever.

Her friends came outside too, and together they played in the rain. They raced across the grass, splashed water at each other, and danced under the cloudy sky.

But then the funniest thing happened.

A strong splash from a puddle covered Lyly from head to toe with muddy water! Everyone burst into laughter, including Lyly herself.

By the time the rain stopped, the summer heat was gone, and the garden looked fresh and beautiful again.

Lyly smiled happily. Her wish for rain had come true, and it had turned into one of the most fun days of the summer!
