It all started early in the morning when CUTIS woke up with one mission in mind—he had to go fishing. With wide, hopeful eyes, he ran straight to Dad, who was still enjoying his quiet cup of coffee. “Dad, please! Let’s go fishing today!” CUTIS pleaded, practically bouncing with excitement.
Dad glanced outside, noticing the cloudy sky and slightly muddy yard. “Maybe another day,” he said calmly. But CUTIS wasn’t giving up that easily. He followed Dad around the house, repeating his request in increasingly dramatic ways—clutching his toy fishing rod, sighing loudly, and even pretending to cry (though he kept peeking to see if it was working).
Finally, after endless begging and a promise to “catch the biggest fish ever,” Dad gave in. “Alright, let’s go,” he said with a chuckle. CUTIS cheered so loudly that even the neighbors probably heard.
They packed their gear and headed to the nearby pond. CUTIS was buzzing with energy, casting his line again and again—even when there was no bait on the hook! Dad tried to show him the proper way, but CUTIS was too excited to listen.
Minutes turned into an hour, and something surprising happened—Dad caught a fish! CUTIS stared in amazement, then quickly claimed, “That’s our fish!” Dad laughed but let him hold it for a picture.
Determined not to be outdone, CUTIS tried one more time. He cast his line with all his might… and suddenly, something tugged back hard. “Dad! I got one!” he shouted. With great effort, he pulled and pulled—only to fall backward with a loud splash right into the shallow water!
Dad rushed over, trying not to laugh, but CUTIS popped up, soaked from head to toe, holding… a tangled clump of weeds.
There was a moment of silence—then both of them burst into laughter.
On the way home, CUTIS grinned and said, “Next time, I’ll catch a real fish!” Dad smiled, shaking his head. “Maybe… but today, you caught the funniest story.”
