It was a bright and cheerful morning when CUTIS discovered something incredible in the driveway—a shiny red toy supercar parked beside the garden. Its doors opened upward like real race cars, and the sunlight made it sparkle. CUTIS’s eyes grew wide with excitement.
“Wow! A supercar!” he shouted, running over as fast as his little feet could carry him.
Buem followed behind, already laughing at how serious CUTIS looked. The moment CUTIS climbed into the driver’s seat, he pressed every button he could find. Beep! Click! Honk! The tiny dashboard lit up, but suddenly the car made a strange buzzing sound and stopped moving.
CUTIS froze. He pressed the pedal again. Nothing.
“Oh no…” he whispered, staring at the steering wheel as if it had betrayed him.
Determined to fix it himself, CUTIS jumped out and crouched beside the wheel like a professional mechanic. He tapped the tires, looked under the seat, and even pretended to tighten invisible screws with a tiny plastic spoon.
“I know what’s wrong,” he announced proudly. “The engine is sleepy!”
Buem burst into giggles. “The engine is sleepy?”
“Yes!” CUTIS said with complete confidence. “It needs a wake-up snack.”
He placed a cracker on the hood of the little supercar as if feeding it. For a moment, everyone watching could hardly stop laughing. CUTIS waited seriously, then climbed back in and pressed the pedal again.
Still nothing.
Now Buem decided it was time to step in. Trying not to laugh too hard, she walked over and opened the small battery cover at the back of the toy car.
“CUTIS, look!” she said. “The battery cable came loose.”
CUTIS blinked in surprise. “So… it wasn’t hungry?”
Buem shook her head, smiling, and carefully snapped the cable back into place. “Try it now.”
CUTIS pressed the pedal once more.
Vroooom!
The supercar zoomed forward, and CUTIS let out the loudest, happiest laugh. “Buem fixed it! She’s the real super mechanic!”
Buem proudly placed her hands on her hips while CUTIS drove circles around the yard, still talking about his “sleepy engine” idea.
From that moment on, whenever the toy car had the tiniest problem, CUTIS would call for Buem first—because everyone knew that when funny trouble happens, Buem always saves the day!
