Everyone on the farm was excited because Monkey LYLY and her mother were finally returning from their relaxing vacation. Dad had decorated the yard with colorful balloons, while the other animals gathered near the gate, eager to welcome them home. They expected LYLY to come running with a huge smile and endless stories about her adventure.
Instead, something felt different.
As soon as LYLY stepped out of the cart, she quietly hugged her little backpack and slowly walked past everyone without saying a word. She didn’t wave, she didn’t laugh, and she didn’t even rush over to greet Dad like she always did.
“Welcome home, LYLY!” Dad said with a cheerful grin.
LYLY simply nodded and wandered into the house.
The family exchanged puzzled looks. What had happened during the trip? Had she gotten sick? Was she upset about leaving the vacation behind?
Mom smiled gently. “Don’t worry. I think she’s just having a hard time adjusting after such an exciting holiday.”
Still, everyone tried to cheer her up. Dad prepared her favorite fruit salad, the baby goat invited her to play hide-and-seek, and the kittens rolled a colorful ball toward her. LYLY smiled politely but didn’t seem interested.
Later that afternoon, Dad noticed LYLY sitting quietly beneath her favorite tree, staring at a collection of seashells she had gathered during the vacation.
“I miss the beach,” she whispered. “Every morning I woke up to the sound of waves, collected shells with Mom, and watched beautiful sunsets. Now it feels so quiet.”
Dad sat beside her and gently placed an arm around her shoulders.
“It’s okay to miss a wonderful trip,” he said. “The happiest memories stay with us, but home is where we make new ones together.”
Those comforting words warmed LYLY’s heart. She looked around and realized how much she had missed her cozy treehouse, her playful animal friends, and Dad’s warm hugs.
Her cheerful smile slowly returned. Soon she was laughing, sharing funny vacation stories, and giving everyone the little souvenirs she had collected.
By evening, the farm was filled with laughter once again. LYLY realized that vacations are wonderful, but coming home to the people who love you is the sweetest feeling of all.
