Little monkey Xuka was usually cheerful and full of energy. Every morning, Xuka loved running around the house, hugging Mom, and playing games with puppy Kun. But today felt completely different. Xuka sat quietly in the corner of the living room with watery eyes and a sad little face.
Mom immediately noticed something was wrong. “What happened to my little monkey?” she asked gently while sitting beside Xuka. But instead of answering, Xuka simply looked down at the floor and hugged a small toy tightly.
Mom became worried. She tried giving Xuka favorite snacks, fresh bananas, and even warm milk, but nothing worked. Usually, Xuka would jump happily at the sight of treats, but now the little monkey barely reacted.
As the day went on, Mom kept thinking carefully. “What did I do to make the little monkey Xuka so sad?” she whispered to herself. She replayed the whole morning in her mind, trying to remember every little detail.
Then suddenly, Mom remembered something important.
Earlier that day, Xuka had excitedly run toward her carrying a colorful drawing. The little monkey wanted to show off a beautiful family picture made with crayons. But because Mom was busy cleaning the kitchen and talking on the phone, she only glanced quickly and said, “Not now, Xuka. I’m very busy.”
At that moment, Mom realized her mistake. Maybe Xuka had felt ignored and unimportant.
Feeling guilty, Mom slowly walked back to the living room and knelt beside Xuka. She gently hugged the little monkey and said softly, “I’m sorry, sweetheart. Can you show me your drawing again? I really want to see it.”
Xuka looked up with teary eyes before carefully handing over the paper. On it was a beautiful drawing of the whole family smiling together under a rainbow. In one corner, Xuka had written in messy little letters, “I love Mom forever.”
Mom’s heart melted instantly. Tears filled her eyes as she kissed Xuka’s forehead many times. “This is the most beautiful drawing ever,” she said warmly.
Hearing those words, Xuka finally smiled again. Puppy Kun happily barked and jumped around them, making everyone laugh.
That evening, the family spent time together drawing pictures, playing games, and sharing hugs. Mom learned an important lesson that day: sometimes small moments matter the most to a child’s heart. All Xuka really wanted was love, attention, and to feel appreciated.
