What Will Nurse Lily Do When Dad Has a High Fever? Lily’s Story

One quiet evening, Lily was playing happily with her toy medical kit when she heard her dad call out in a weak voice from the couch. She quickly ran over and saw that he looked very tired. His face was red, and he was shivering under a blanket. Lily gently touched his forehead and gasped. “Oh no, Dad, you’re so hot! You must have a high fever!”

Right away, little Nurse Lily jumped into action. She put on her tiny white nurse hat and picked up her toy stethoscope, ready to help. Even though she was small, Lily had a big heart and wanted to take very good care of her dad.

First, Lily brought Dad a soft pillow and helped him lie down comfortably. Then she carefully placed a cool wet towel on his forehead to help lower his fever. “You need to rest, Dad,” she said sweetly, patting his hand. Her caring voice made Dad smile even though he still felt weak.

Next, Lily hurried to the kitchen and brought him a glass of warm water. She remembered that drinking water was important when someone had a fever. Holding the cup with both hands, she carefully helped him sip it. Dad thanked her and said, “You are the best little nurse.”

But Nurse Lily wasn’t done yet. She tucked the blanket gently around him and stayed by his side, checking his forehead every few minutes. She even sang him a soft lullaby to help him relax and sleep.

After some rest, water, and Lily’s loving care, Dad began to feel much better. His fever slowly went down, and the color returned to his face. When he opened his eyes, Lily was still sitting beside him, watching over him with concern.

Dad smiled warmly and said, “Your kindness is the best medicine, Lily.”

Lily giggled proudly. In her heart, she knew that being a nurse wasn’t just about medicine—it was about love, comfort, and staying close when someone needed help the most. That night, Lily became the sweetest little hero in Dad’s story.
