It was a quiet morning at home, and everything seemed perfectly normal—until Mom walked into the dining room and froze in surprise. There, right in the middle of the table, lay little Monkey Lyly, completely still. Her arms were stretched out, her eyes closed, and she didn’t move a single inch.
“Lyly?” Mom called softly, her voice filled with confusion. No response.
Her heart skipped a beat as she hurried closer. “Lyly! What’s going on?” she asked again, gently touching her daughter’s shoulder. Still nothing. Lyly remained motionless, like a tiny statue.
Mom began to worry. Just a few minutes ago, Lyly had been happily playing with her toys. What could have happened so suddenly? She checked her forehead—no fever. She listened closely—Lyly was breathing normally. But why wasn’t she moving?
“Lyly, please answer me,” Mom said, her voice now trembling slightly.
Suddenly, Lyly’s fingers twitched.
Mom leaned in closer, her eyes wide with concern.
Then, without warning, Lyly slowly opened one eye… then the other. She glanced at her mother and quickly shut them again, trying her best not to smile.
Mom blinked in surprise. “Wait a minute…” she said, narrowing her eyes.
That’s when Lyly couldn’t hold it anymore. She burst into giggles, jumping up from the table. “Got you, Mom!” she laughed, clearly proud of her little trick.
Mom stared at her for a second before letting out a long sigh of relief. “Lyly! You scared me!” she said, placing her hand on her chest. “I thought something was wrong!”
Lyly scratched her head shyly. “I was just pretending to be a statue… I wanted to see what you would do.”
Mom couldn’t help but smile, though she tried to look serious. “Well, you did a very good job,” she admitted. “But next time, don’t play tricks like that. You made me really worried.”
Lyly nodded, understanding her mistake. “I’m sorry, Mom,” she said softly.
Mom hugged her warmly. “It’s okay. Just remember—fun is good, but not when it scares people.”
From that day on, Lyly still loved to play—but she chose her games a little more carefully.
