Here’s a 350-word story for your title:
Monkey Lyly woke up feeling very excited that morning. She stretched her tiny arms, rubbed her sleepy eyes, and quickly ran into the kitchen with a big smile on her face. Usually, her mother would already be preparing a delicious breakfast filled with sweet bananas, warm rice, and Lyly’s favorite fruit soup.
But this morning was different.
Lyly looked around the kitchen and saw that the stove was cold. There was no smell of food anywhere. Her mother was quietly sitting outside, folding clothes instead of cooking. Confused and hungry, Lyly walked over and asked sweetly, “Mom, can you cook breakfast for me?”
To Lyly’s surprise, her mother gently shook her head and said, “Not today, Lyly.”
The little monkey immediately became disappointed. Her ears dropped, and her happy smile disappeared. She could not understand why her mother suddenly refused to cook for her. Lyly sat alone in the corner, hugging her knees sadly while thinking that maybe her mother was upset with her.
For the next hour, Lyly barely spoke. Even when her friends came by to play, she remained quiet and gloomy. Her mother noticed everything but still said nothing.
Finally, Lyly could not hold her feelings anymore. She slowly walked up to her mother and asked with watery eyes, “Mom, did I do something wrong?”
Her mother smiled softly and pulled Lyly into a warm hug. “Of course not,” she said gently. “I only wanted you to learn something important today.”
Then her mother explained the truth. She had been feeling tired from doing all the cooking and housework every single day. She wanted Lyly to understand that preparing meals takes time, effort, and love. Her mother hoped Lyly would learn to appreciate her more and maybe even help sometimes.
Lyly suddenly felt ashamed for complaining. She realized she had always enjoyed the food without thinking about how hard her mother worked to make it every day.
Wanting to make things right, Lyly quickly went into the kitchen and tried helping prepare lunch with her mother. Although she made a funny mess, both of them laughed happily together.
From that day on, Lyly never forgot to thank her mother for every meal made with love.
